Fine Arts Valuation Event
July 31, 2016
July has been a very eventful month for Fine Arts at Ryder & Dutton!
Following the success of our first ever Fine Art Antiques Valuation Event in association with Wright Marshall Ltd, we held another Valuation event, this time at our Royton office on Thursday 28th July.
ITV's Masterpiece antiques expert Rachel Houston Holland, and jewellery valuer Francesca Garvey were on hand to offer a free valuation and selling advice on an array of items from vases, pictures and pottery to coins, war medals and jewellery.
The event was extremely busy with some really interesting items brought along, some of which have already been entered into future Auction sales.
We are also delighted to have helped one of our vendors achieve a stunning result in the latest Fine Art Auction sale in association with Wright Marshall.
We had been asked to carry out a valuation on a small terraced house but our valuer spotted this battered, cracked and chipped vase that she thought worthy of further investigation. The vendor felt it was pointless as they'd had a House Clearance firm round who'd told them it was worthless and along with a number of other items had offered them £200.
The vendor said they would have accepted £500, however we referred it to our Asian Art and ITV's Masterpiece expert, Rachel Houston-Holland, who realised that it was an extremely rare vase from the Dauguang Period, circa 1820 and that even in its damaged condition was extremely valuable. In last week's Fine Art sale it sold for £25,000!
So don't hesitate to contact us if you have any items that you wish our Antique and Fine Art experts to appraise, free of charge, or watch out for our next valuation day.
