Ryder & Dutton Team Raise ‘Sky High’ Amount for Local Hospice!

At Ryder & Dutton, we have a number of local charities that we are proud to support in anyway that we can. One of those based near our Halifax branch is Overgate Hospice, who do fantastic work and ‘aim to care for the whole person to give them the best possible quality of life and also provide support for the patient's family and/ or carers.’

This year we decided to do something a little different to raise money for the Hospice. 5 members of our West Yorkshire based branches took to the skies, taking part in the 15K Experience Tandem Skydive in order to raise money for this fantastic cause.

On the 2nd September, they travelled up into the air for 15 minutes in order to get up to altitude and then they took part in the HIGHEST skydive in the UK, jumping 15,000 feet and then free falling for a minute until the parachutes opened!

We set a massive target for this event, looking to raise a total of £1750 by jumping out of a plane in the name of charity. We are delighted to announce that we smashed our target, with the team raising an incredible £2,084.83 for the hospice!!

Stephanie Hill, Manager of our Halifax office, said “Over the last couple of years we have done numerous events at the Halifax office to support Overgate Hospice, which many people within Calderdale will have had contact with. This year we wanted to do something a bit different to the usual fundraising events and when we saw that Overgate Hospice offered the chance of sky diving it seemed ideal.

We have been busy fundraising for months and it’s absolutely fantastic that we managed to exceed our target. We couldn’t have asked for better weather on the day and, despite being nervous, we all jumped out of the plane at 15,000 feet. We just need to think of something to top this for next year now!”

Everyone at Ryder & Dutton would just like to once again say a huge thank you to everyone who has donated, spread the word and supported this fantastic cause. Both ourselves and Overgate Hospice are truly humbled by the response from everyone!
