Area Guide - Clitheroe
Clitheroe is an historic Market Town situated in the heart of the Ribble Valley dating back to Saxon times situated in the shadow of its most prominent feature - Clitheroe Castle. Perhaps somewhat surprisingly Manchester is only 34 miles away and is easily accessible with a direct train together with superb bus and road links.
The excellent Junior and Secondary schools within the borough are always in strong demand and are complimented by the Private Establishments including Stonyhurst College, Oakhill and Moorland. The streets within the town are always bustling and renowned shops such as D Byrne Wines, Cowmans Famous Sausages and Nettletons Jewellers lie within.
Cuisine and fine dining within the Ribble Valley is fantastic and the area is well served with top class restaurants and hotels including the Michelin Star Northcote Manor, the James’ Place chain and several other highly regarded venues.
Abutting an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with stunning views and scenic walks Clitheroe and the Ribble Valley are often referred to as the Jewel in the Crown of Lancashire. Come in and say hello to us when passing!
